This is Stoner Cricket Review, where we review movies for Stoners, Ents, and the like. In today's installment, I review “Oz The Great and Powerful 3D.”
Oz The Great and Powerful 3D is Disney's second film to expand the world of Oz. This one is a prequel film staring James Franco, who plays a sideshow magician
who ends up on the run in a hot air balloon. First, he finds himself headed towards
a tornado and then ends up in a strange but beautiful land. Some people
from this land of Oz believe that he is the great wizard they are
waiting for. Others are more skeptical. The
film was released in many different versions, but my screening was in
is a blog where we review movies on the big screen to let you know if
it’s worth the use of your cookie, brownie, or tokes off your pipe, etc.
We use the Reddit Ent Scale to represent how stoned we were during the
viewing. On a scale from [1 to 10] during the viewing of Oz The Great and Powerful 3D, I
would say I was about a .
I had said before my preferred method is to eat a brownie, cookie or
some other kind of edible. I eat before the show, before even getting
there, and by the time the show is starting it should be taking effect.
came up with a rating system of up to 7 thumps up for how much the
movie is worth seeing baked. Is it worth the use of your trees? We don’t
want your trees going to waste. The 7 thumbs up is determined by 3
categories: Effects, Plot, and Sound.
give a thumb up for Sound. I was expecting the special effects to be
not much different from Disney's Alice in Wonderland from a few years ago, but I was
pleased to find that the
Special Effects for Oz were
excellent. The 3D for the film was great and very enjoyable. The
filmmakers really took advantage of the 3D technology, especially during
first half of the film. It was great to just sit back and watch. While
watching the film I couldn't help but think "this is going to be a cool
ride when it opens at Disneyland".
The costuming and makeup were also good. They were very reminiscent of
the original Wizard of Oz movie. I give Effects 3 Thumbs up.
plot was also very good. It was another interesting take on the origin
or background of Oz before Dorothy shows up. "Oz The Great and Powerful"
visited or at least touched on most all the parts from the original
Wizard of Oz. Without it being a musical, it was a great homage to the
fans of the original movie and the genre, especially compared to the
last Oz movie Disney made. The movie was not difficult to follow and did
not have any memorable slow parts. James Franco was very good in the
movie. I would really like to invite James Franco over to blaze and hang
out with. Maybe he and I could view some stoner films together. Mila
was also good. It was nice to see her in a different kind of role. All
in all, it was a very entertaining story. I give 3 thumbs up for Plot.
a total of 7 out of 7 thumps up for Oz The Great and Powerful 3D at a , I would highly (LOL!) recommend the movie. It
would not be a waste of your trees.
